OVERVIEW
We have designed and validated a custom Pediatric Cancer Predisposition Panel in collaboration with our colleagues at BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital Pediatric Oncology and Medical Genetics clinics. This panel will assess both small nucleotide changes and copy number changes in 130 genes. This includes 79 genes that are also on our adult hereditary cancer panel plus 51 genes associated with a genetic predisposition to a pediatric cancer. INDICATIONS
Any patient on active anti-cancer therapy, diagnosed since January 1, 2026, or who has been referred to the Medical Genetics Clinic with the suspicion of having a genetic risk of cancer will qualify for testing. Clinical history and testing indications include:
- Hematological malignancy
- Acute Myeloid Malignancy
- Acute Lymphoid Malignancy
- Lymphoma
- Others
- Solid Tumours
- CNS Tumour
- Liver Tumour
- Neuroblastoma
- Neuroendocrine / Thyroid Tumour
- Renal Tumour
- Retinoblastoma
- Sarcoma
- Others
- Other testing approved by Medical Genetics Program
- Confirmation of pathogenic variant findings from tumour testing or clinical trial / research study testing
TEST ORDERING
The Pediatric Cancer Predisposition Panel can only be ordered by Pediatric Oncologists and Geneticists within the Medical Genetics clinic at BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital. The requisition for this testing will not be publicly available but can be obtained by contacting Pedsgeneticcancer@cw.bc.ca.
