The Cancer Genetics and Genomics Laboratory (CGL) has implemented an updated testing algorithm for BCR::ABL1 Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) testing in patients with Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL).
Developed in collaboration with the Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant (L/BMT) Program of BC, the updated approach aligns testing with the current standard of care/ pattern of practice, and establishes funded MRD testing timepoints for patients with Ph+ ALL.
There is no change to the test methodology, ordering process, interpretation, or reporting of BCR::ABL1 MRD testing. Testing continues to be ordered using the CGL Lymphoid Requisition available on our Requisitions page.
Most MRD assessments will be performed on peripheral blood specimens, with bone marrow specimens generally limited to: diagnosis, post-induction, and post-consolidation timepoints.
